Google Tablet To Compete With Kindle Fire

It appears that Google plan to roll out a tablet this year aimed straight at the Kindle Fire. According to the story below, Google’s Eric Schmidt has (somewhat) confirmed that a new tablet developed by Google will be an attempt to complete directly with the Fire, with a 7 inch screen, Android 4.0 (AKA Ice Cream Sandwich), and, most importantly, a $199 price tag.

Personally, I don’t think they are going to take that much market share from Amazon and the Kindle Fire. I could be wrong, but Amazon has some real brand recognition now when it comes to the tablet and ereader market, whereas Google has not. While Android has become a popular operating system for tablets, it is distributed across many companies with all different types of versions, so it does not have the brand loyalty that the Kindle and the iPad/iPhone have. Speaking of the iPhone, Amazon has a phone in the works as well. More on that when we get more details!
